ABOUT
‘Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.’
"Hello!"
My name is Lisa and I am the founder of Smart Little Minds.
After many years of working in primary schools and also tutoring, I took the decision to transfer my teaching experience online and continue to support children with their learning as I strongly believe education really matters.
All my life, I have been surrounded by teachers and professors, who advised me to get into teaching.
As a student of languages I had delivered private lessons to children and English to foreigner students but had avoided taking the plunge of going into teaching as a career. Nevertheless I eventually succumbed and decided to give it a try.
After some years of teaching Italian and French, mainly to adults, I felt I was ready for a change and applied for a job in a primary school. I immediately developed a real passion for teaching and supporting children in their learning. I found it so enjoyable that I started tutoring KS1 and KS2 children.
Helping children develop their learning is, in my mind, a very creative and amazingly rewarding experience.
I am enthusiastic and committed to developing stimulating and creative resources for children, taking into consideration their age, ability, interests and passions, without forgetting the difficulties that they may encounter as a result of low self-esteem, anxiety, dyslexia, dyscalculia and school phobia.
I have a child centred approach; I plan and create learning resources, such as quizzes, games, worksheets and many more interactive activities that are both motivating and match the learners’ needs, encouraging them to become independent, co-operative and resilient.
I have an enhanced current DBS and a NSPCC Keeping Children Safe Online Certification.
